BMW PGA Championship Bets: It's Still Stenson Season baby!

The Golf bets are still flowing at Club 20 this week despite the PGA Tour on break after a couple of big collects on the Euro Tour in recent weeks.

The BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth GC in Surrey, England is one of the premier events of the Euro Tour season and here down under we get heaps of great coverage on Fox with featured Groups from 5:30 and main coverage from 9pm tonight.

After a big month and an even bigger week last week nailing multiple First Round Leader bets at the Italian open amongst other collects, we’re going harder at this event than normal.

The coverage and the course are certainly both adding to the desire to bet this event and I’d be lying if the prospect of some kind of lockdown lift wasn’t also inflating enthusiasm levels!

The Course

Wentworth is a tough, treelined course in Surrey, England. It is not particularly long (7260 yards) but it is protected off the tee by the trees and the small landing zones, and on approach by treacherously small green complexes.

Players who can find the fairway off the tee and get up and down here when in a little bother will climb quickly.

With four Par 5’s and a closing stretch of holes that are very gettable (short, soft Par 4 and then back to back Par 5’s) anything in that 66/67 range should be right at the pointy end after the first round.

If betting live, remember that there are three Par 5’s on the back nine in addition to the short Par 4 16th so if you like a player who has gone out unscathed but has drifted in the betting, there’s a good chance to shoot -3 or better coming in at this course if your irons are on.

Weather

Tee draw looks to slightly favour the AM/PM wave but only marginally.

Doesn’t look at this stage to be enough wind or rain to factor into calculations but this is England and the weather can go from bad to worse very quickly.

Course Fit

Approach is (almost) everything at this course. Find the short stuff off the tee even if you have to club down to do it, then stick your iron. These greens are small so proximity is even more important because a 20ft putt that is half a chance to drop on most courses, means a tricky chip from a collection area (or worse) at Wentworth.

Bets

There are A LOT I like this week and there is some cash to splash so I’ve included most of them because it is one of my favourite events of the year to watch and the inclusion of a few PGA Tour studs (relatively speaking) has seen caused the odds of some of our Euro regulars to inflate considerably.

Taking all seven (7) of these guys in the Outright market (each way top six) and the First Round Leader market (each way top five).

There is a chance that Hovland absolutely brains this field but he is too short to bet so we’ll be death riding him instead this week

  • Christiaan Bezeidenhout Outright @ 31, FRL @ 36
  • Lee Westwood Outright @ 41, FRL @ 46
  • Henrik Stenson Outright @ 46, FRL @ 46
  • Masahiro Kawamura Outright @ 71, FRL @ 81
  • Callum Hill Outright @ 71, FRL @ 61
  • Jordan Smith Outright @ 101, FRL @ 71
  • Ross Fisher Outright @ 200, FRL @ 111

Gavin Green, Marcus Kinhult, Guido Migliozzi and Sam Horsfield all narrowly missed the card (told you I liked a lot this week!) but will be watched very carefully in the opening round.

3 Ball Multi’s

Were swinging from the fences in Round 1 with a few big hail mary 3-Ball Multis.

The early saver is a 3-legger but then it gets real stupid real quick!

Min Multi

  • Ross Fisher, Jordan Smith, Guido Migliozzi @ 14.00

Mega Multi

Taking all five and six leg options plus the seven legger @ 471-1!

  • Fisher, Smith, Guido, Bezeidenhout, Scott, Hovland, Stenson

So obviously there are a lot of bets here, 58 to be exact when you count up all the each ways and multi options, so don’t be silly with these, select which ones you like most or lower your stake and play more options, it’s up to you.

We’re riding a bit of a heater at the moment so confidence is high for a return here, but it’s golf betting and we could donate al of last week’s winnings back real quick if it goes sideways so bet smart and good luck!

Hedge

Cruelly denied sporting glory due to recurring shin splint complaints and an aversion to warm-up laps, Hedge now spends his days golfing, fishing the leaves out of the Club 20 pools and identifying value plays in PGA, AFL, AFLW and T20. All you really need to know about him is he's more than comfortable taking 3I off the tee on a Par 5, and more than capable of pulling driver off the deck second shot.
