25 AFL/PGA Plays To Kickstart A Big Weekend Of Sport!
There is just something about the build-up to a weekend - the expectation, the enthusiasm and bubbling social excitement combine every week to ensure the Club 20 front bar is absolutely humming with giddy optimism come Thursday arvo happy hour.
Tonight is just the start of a huge weekend of bets at Club 20 so be sure to check in with us on Twitter and make sure you subscribe to get the free emails.
We bled some profits on Easter weekend but we’re still well and truly in the black and I just have a sneaking suspicion that this could be the big week we’ve been waiting for.
So it’s cheers to all of you, I hope you thoroughly enjoy your footy and golf (and beverages) all weekend!
AFL – ST KILDA v RICHMOND
I’m expecting a big bounce-back game from the Tigers tonight, and I don’t expect the Saints to be able to handle the onslaught.
St Kilda were gutsy against the Eagles but this Tigers team will be PISSED and if they are capable of anything near their best from the last few years, expect it will be delivered tonight against a team that I still have plenty of question marks over.
- Tom Lynch 5+ Goals @ 8.00, 6+ Goals @ 19.00
- Daniel Rioli 3+ Goals @ 7.00, 4+ Goals @ 22.50
- Multi: Rioli 2+ Goals, Martin 25+ Disposals, Bolton 20+ Disposals @ 7.10
PGA – RBC HERITAGE
A really good field has fronted up to Hilton Head in South Carolina with 10 of the current top 20 in the world headlining a tournament that is renowned for its forced layups and weather-affected results.
We’re back on Bermuda greens and this Par 71 is an irons and around-the-green course, with driving distance and general length taking a backseat to accuracy off the tee and proximity with irons.
If you don’t hit these small greens, then it is imperative you bring an up-and-down game, because this course tends to be abit of a shoot out particularly in years where there is little wind and some rain (like this wknd).
The best thing about Harbour Town is that anyone can win, providing you bring a white hot putter you are live to compete.
Weather wise we seem to have a little rain to contend with Thursday (PM) but the wind does not seem to bad and any rain the afternoon wave does get should be compensated by softer greens.
This is a coastal course so the rain could bring wind gusts out of nowhere and wipe out the afternoon guys, but at this stage it does not seem like there is an advantage on the tee time front.
After scrolling through some stats and the Tournament Futures pages on the Stats Insider website, we’ve settled on five (5) guys, we are going each-way (top 5 placings) and also taking them for First Round Leader with the each-way (top 5).
Si Woo Kim Outright @ 41.00/10.00, FRL @ 51.00/12.50
He has missed the cut here the last two times but a T2 in 2018 and T14 in 2016 shows he can compete when his putter is on.
Irons have been amazing (ranked #26 in this field over key 175-200yrd range) and Kim is ranked #4 in this field for scrambling gained.
He has gained strokes putting in his last five events so we are hoping to ride this heater for one last event.
Harris English Outright @ 46.00/11.50, FRL @ 51.00/12.50
Since his victory at the TOC (a coastal course) he went off the radar but his last few events has seen sharp improvement – he gained almost four strokes on approach at the API then had another few weeks off, then played well enough at the Match Play.
A T21 at Augusta last week just cements that his Tee-to-Green game is on solid footings again.
Has five top 30 finishes in last 7 years here and just loves these greens. Think the fire is back, should see peak ‘game face’ Harris out this week at a great price for his potential.
Christiaan Bezeidenhout Outright @ 67.00/17.00, FRL @ 61.00/15.00
Ol’ Chris Hoot is a Club 20 favourite and hit a nice FRL each-way at Augusta for us last week.
This course is tailor made for him, because it negates his big disadvantage which is his driver. He can club down, hit stingers off the tee and lean on his strong approach and around-the-green game.
He lost 2 strokes off the tee here last year and still finished T28, he is a vastly improved player with more confidence.
Ranked #7 in this field for scrambling and LOVES Bermuda (ranked #7 in this field putting on Bermuda over the last 50 rounds).
Brandan Grace Outright @ 81.00/20.00, FRL @ 67.00/17.00
A former winner here (2016), Grace looks on the cusp of recapturing that form from 5 years ago after winning the Puerto Rico Open in late Feb, then backing up a T26 at the API with a solid T23 at Valero a fortnight ago.
Was not at Augusta last week so you know he has had a few practice rounds here to refamiliarize himself with a course he has not missed a cut at in five attempts.
Great coastal player, good course form and the big tick for me to include him has been his putting form over the last six events.
Has a T11 and T7 here to go along with his win, and he will be on the featured group coverage early this evening so we can watch his front nine and cheer on the FRL play!
Nick Taylor Outright @ 251.00/62.00, FRL @ 126.00/31.50
Our roughie selection this week, Taylor has been having one of those frustrating runs where everything is not clicking at the same time.
He gained over 6 and 4 strokes putting at Sony and the Genesis respectively, but his irons let him down, but at Sawgrass (4.8 gained) and the Honda (4.1 gained) his white hot irons were cooled by his icy putter.
He is a player that has been on our radar for a few months now but scouring through the Stats Insider model reminded us of him. The books seem to have forgotten he went wire to wire at Pebble near on a year now, and when you combine that with his T11 at Sony in January, his coastal course form looks rock solid.
I’ll take a chance on a guy who can gain over 4 strokes with his irons and putter any given round, especially at a course where he doesn’t have to worry about getting into too much trouble with his driver.
Check this out!
Good luck to all, if you have a bet you like jump on the twitter and let us all know about it, and be sure to check out the Stats Insider AFL Match Pages or the NRL Match Pages if you are having a flutter over the weekend because the model is on FIRE to start 2021.
