Blues vs Maroons Game 1: Key Players to Look Out For

NSW fullback James Tedesco lines up for his 20th straight game as a Blue in Game 1 of State of Origin. While his club form for the Sydney Roosters hasn't been to the standard we've normally come to expect, Tedesco is still one of the best players in rugby league and is a key player to look out for.

Queensland star Cameron Munster will be a key player for the Maroons heading into Game 1 of State of Origin. Munster raises the standard of the players around him and is consistently among Queensland's best players every State of Origin series. The Melbourne Storm star most experienced for the Maroons coming into State of Origin 2023 and he will be one of the key players to watch in Game 1.

State of Origin Game 1: Key Updates

NSW will be without one of their top stars heading into State of Origin, with Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell ruled out of Game 1 with a calf injury. Stephen Crichton comes into the Blues squad as a replacement for Mitchell, with Tom Trbojevic taking up his position on the field.

Queensland also made changes to their lineup in the wake of Mitchell's injury, with centres Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Val Holmes swapping positions.

Tabuai-Fidow was initially set to play on the right and mark up on Mitchell but will now switch to the left to cover Tom Trbojevic.
