The Broncos Run Over The Roosters

James Roberts stole the show in a superb battle between himself and Latrell Mitchell as the Brisbane Broncos stole a thrilling late win against the Sydney Roosters on Friday night. It was an extraordinary seesawing battle but it was the hosts who took home the Premiership points.

The Roosters had a 12-10 lead at halftime after Mitchell had superbly set up a couple of Sydney tries, and it looked like they were set to record another win.

Roberts set up Jamayne Isaako out wide to give the Broncos the lead. Isaac Liu and Boyd Cordner then scored back to back tries to give Sydney a 22-16 advantage with less than 15 minutes to go, but then it was Roberts who would steal the show late and take over the game.

"Jimmy the Jet" took it 70 metres with just seven minutes remaining which would level the scores at 22, leaving Mitchell in his wake as he steamed away to bring the Broncos right back into the game.

The match took a dark turn in the 75th minute when the Roosters Dylan Napa led with his head in a dangerous tackle on Korbin Sims, and was promptly sin binned.

Isaako would then score an epic 30 metre try with just two minutes remaining to steal what will be a famous win in the memories of Broncos supporters for a long time.

Before Roberts score-levelling try the Roosters were a 98 percent chance of victory according to Stats Insider Models, such was their control of the game at the time. Before Isaako's winner Sydney were still 78 percent likely winners in the eyes of the Models.

It wasn't to be, however, as the Broncos and Roberts would win a momentous clash.
