Punters Corner: "Honey, get the kids we're going to Flight Centre via Drummond Golf!'

It was a dirty Thursday night footy for Club 20 patrons with Shannon Hurn turning out his worst performance of 2019 and Oscar Allen stinking up the Eagles forward line with a 0.2, one out on the full (and another two spilled chest marks inside 50 but hey, I'm totally over it!).

The good news is there is plenty more across the weekend to get stuck into starting with big Buddy at the SCG tonight!

Friday Night 2-Legger @6.50

  • Buddy 4+ Goals
  • Heeney Over 20.5

Buddy had some of his swagger back last week and I see no reason why that doesn’t continue tonight whilst Heeney should play as an onballer tonight with Rose remaining in the side and Hayward coming in – he may rest forward but Heeney should get plenty of chances to rack up disposals.

Buddy Franklin 4+, 5+, 6+ Goals

Not much to say, when he is on, he kicks 6. Especially with no Stratton around to help Frawley out in a… pinch, Buddy should have a better than average chance of owning the long bombs as well as eating Frawley on the lead. He will get the looks, so at $3.60 (4), $7.75 (5) and $17.25 (6) if he kicks straight it’s happy days.

Brennan Cox 3+, 4+, 5+, 6+ Goals

For the Dees, it will all be about making sure Hogan doesn’t make them look even stupider than they have made themselves look all season. May will go to him which means Frost gets Cox. Make no mistake, Brennan Cox has a bag in him. He just needs to find that little spark of confidence and he will tear a game apart and I think the Dees, MCG, Sat arvo – it is there for him this week. At $9 (3), $32 (4) and $191 (5) and the ‘quick honey grab the kids we are going to Drummond golf then to a travel agent’ odds of $1176-1 for 6 goals, I’m pushing in again on Coxy.

Alex Neal-Bullen 2+, 3+ Goals

ANB is back in for the Dees and I can see him sneaking in a few here. Reckon he will get the looks, just depends on the accuracy. $6.25 (2) and $25 (3) is solid odds for me.

Charlie Cameron 4+, 5+, 6+ Goals

With Jake Carlisle back for the Saints, I expect the Lions will learn very quickly that the path to goal is not through bombing it long to their talls. Enter Charlie Cameron. He has had 4+ scoring shots 8 times this season so far, he has just kicked far too many behinds. Kicked 3.5 and 3.2 against the Crows and Dockers respectively a few weeks ago, so he is getting the shots. This Saints defence is as inexperienced as it gets too. At $5.25 (4), $13.25 (5) and a juicy $41.50 for 6 goals, I’m pretty keen on Cameron here. Just need them to go through the big sticks, Charlie!

Lions v Saints SGM @ 23.75 / 49.75

  • Neale 35+
  • Ross 30+
  • Cameron 3+ / 4+

Neale won’t get tagged, so expect him to rack the footy up at will as he was doing at the start of the season. Ross is coming off a 31 disposal game against the Suns and I expect him to continue that track into the 30’s. Cameron should tear the Saints backline apart, I see no one down there who will be able to shut him down.

Hedge’s Best 2-legger @6.00

  • Charlie Cameron 3 Goals into Neale Most Disposals (Group 1)

Reckon this is as safe as it gets. Neale should be combo'd with anything and everything. The only way he doesn't win that market is if he gets hurt whilst Charlie is the only one who can deny Charlie 3 goals here.

Hedge

Cruelly denied sporting glory due to recurring shin splint complaints and an aversion to warm-up laps, Hedge now spends his days golfing, fishing the leaves out of the Club 20 pools and identifying value plays in PGA, AFL, AFLW and T20. All you really need to know about him is he's more than comfortable taking 3I off the tee on a Par 5, and more than capable of pulling driver off the deck second shot.
