Punters Corner: CrabBet was buried before it really began

It has been all smiles at Club 20 leading into R14 of the 2019 AFL season with plenty of patrons coming off one of their biggest weeks of the season.
The mood briefly turned sour on Tuesday morning though when one of our Club 20 regulars, in an unusually happy mood, decided to capture several soldier crabs then build a racetrack in the sand, give the crabs names and bios then start an online book.
CrabBet was born.
It seemed liked a solid idea, especially as it coincided with the 10am Really Happy Hour at the Sand Bar where the last of the Old Crow and Pineapple Red Bear cans that we bought on special in 2002 were on ice for $1.
A decent crowd had assembled at the Club 20 Sand Bar by the time Race 1 rolled around.
The scene turned nasty though just as the starter’s shell sounded when all seven crabs were released from their Redhead boxes only to simultaneously dig under the track to freedom - it was an outcome that race organisers had clearly not anticipated.
Fisticuffs threatened to break out after one savvy punter had loaded up on ‘No Crab to Finish Race’ at $51’s, but the crisis was averted when someone cleverly suggested invoking the So Sad Too Bad rule (known to locals as the SB Rule) and all bets were immediately voided and returned.
But enough of the ridiculous antics that go on in paradise, let’s get into some bets for this week!
I don’t usually do Thursday night footy because:
1. I’m inherently lazy.
2. See point #1.
But tonight I’ve made an exception because I do like a few here.
Oscar Allen 2+, 3+, 4+, 5 Goals
If there is such a thing as a calculated hail mary, this is it. Allen will get an increased role in the ruck tonight but he will still play predominantly forward and should get plenty of chances with JJK and Darling likely to have their hands full against Hooker and Hurley.
There is a situation where Allen kicks a few early and the team collectively shifts into 'kick it to the kid' mode. At $4.20 (2), $15 (3) and $63 (4) and $301 (5), I think he is worth a good look. Obviously 3, 4 and 5 goals is ambitious but the brace will cover the hail mary bets. So, if he kicks two and Hurn does his thing it will still be a great night.
Shannon Hurn Over 25.5 Disposals + Oscar Allen 2+ Goals @7.50
Any multi tonight should include that Hurn Overs disposal bet. Has cleared 26+ in 6/10 games this season and another two games he finished on 25. Oh, and he is averaging 28.8 disposals/game at Optus this season in five games (including a 20 touch game in R2 against GWS).
Hedge’s Thursday Night 3-Legger @17.25
- Hurn Over 25.5
- Allen 2 Goals
- Cripps 2 Goals
I quite like the Eagles here, it is a matter of time only before they click and absolutely brutalise a team here at home and the Bombers are just the kind of team they can get a hold of.
A scatter gun approach to goal kicker multi's is a solid play. All eagles forwards are in play for 2+ goals tonight and the Eagles 40+ is also in play for mine.
Be sure to check back in tomorrow at lunch time for the complete Round 14 Club 20 bets.
