Punters Corner: Angus Brayshaw and Buddy Franklin could light up Easter weekend

CLUB 20

With a break-even first week at Club 20 behind us, we turn our attentions to an Easter long weekend laden with exotics value.

I don’t know about you but after being on Jayden Stephensen for goals on Thursday and Mason Wood for 2+ / Jack Redden for 25+ on Good Friday I could use a strong drink and a turn of fortunes!

Thankfully Trent Dumont saluted his 30+ and young Petruccelle came through for us with a few goals at an unreal price, but still… I’m feeling a little hard-done by!

While for many it is technically not until tomorrow, the resurrection might start a day early here at Club 20!

Angus Brayshaw 30+ / 35+ / 40+ Disposals

If Jack Steele tags Gus here, these bets are dead in the water but if Steele goes to Oliver who is a much better matchup, then Brayshaw will be completely free to roam around the MCG racking up disposals. The 30+ is a good saver for the better value options but make no mistake, Brayshaw has 40+ upside here if conditions suit.

Brayden Pruess 2+ / 3+ / 4+ Goals

The big ruck showed he can find the big sticks playing as a deep forward and he will have no issues with height or size here against a very small St Kilda back six. Normally when the Dees hack bomb it inside 50, it gets intercepted or spoiled but Pruess is capable of clunking them.

Matthew Parker 2+ / 3+ / 4+ Goals

The Demons defence is putrid and with McDonald going out it gets even worse. Someone will kick a few from that St Kilda tall forward group and we’re on Matty Parker to arrest what has been a slide in form since his debut in R1. Getting great value about this kid for multiple goals today and he gets a great matchup. Obviously, Membrey and Bruce appeal but the bookies have identified the matchup and have shortened them too much for mine. Taking the value on offer and riding for luck!

Jack Ross 25+ / 30+ Disposals

If you watched the kid on his debut last week, you will already be all over this. If you didn’t, jump aboard the smilin’ Jack Ross money train because this kid can find the footy. Had 25 on debut. That says plenty! He can repeat here with Graham going out of the side which takes away another in-and-under type player. Dusty comes back in but someone has to feed him the footy and that someone is Ross. 30 is obviously asking plenty but the 25+ is in play and if the ball falls his way he can clear 30 in this depleted Tigers midfield.

Buddy Franklin 5+ / 6+ Goals

I never see the point in stacking Franklin goals bets as he is either on or he’s not and if it’s a Buddy day then 5-6 goals are well and truly in play. Get’s an amazing matchup and conditions at Marvel should be cheery ripe for him.

Sam Reid 4+ / 5+ Goals

Like Buddy, if Reid is on there is a bag here for him so I don’t mind starting at 4 goals because that is where the value is. Missed some absolute sitter marks last game, could easily have had 6 shots from inside 40 m. Probably Gets Astbury which is not ideal but there are goals here for Reid is his hands are on.

Tom Papley 2+ / 3+ / 4+ Goals

The value about the Swans small forwards is far too hard to pass up here. Kicked 3 behinds last week and gave one off. The shots are there and the value is sensational. Will be up-and-down high-octane footy at Marvel which brings Papley right into the game.

Tom Hawkins 5+ / 6+ Goals

No Frawley for Hawthorn means that Hawkins will get Brand and then probably Stratton after Brand gets 2-3 kicked on him in the first quarter. There is a bag here for the Tomahawk in what is always a high-scoring game between these two sides.

Hedge

Cruelly denied sporting glory due to recurring shin splint complaints and an aversion to warm-up laps, Hedge now spends his days golfing, fishing the leaves out of the Club 20 pools and identifying value plays in PGA, AFL, AFLW and T20. All you really need to know about him is he's more than comfortable taking 3I off the tee on a Par 5, and more than capable of pulling driver off the deck second shot.
