Punters Corner: A win is a win

Whether you were unspeakably hard done by at the weekend or just want to have a break from your bull dancing to tell everyone how good you went, you are now amongst friends, in a safe place.
We are in the trust tree here people, in the nest...

"If we can maintain those smaller wins and jag a few big ones we will really start to see some proper mullah flowing in and yes, a slide into the pool will be built!
Not a slide for slides sake either, a decent, potentially dangerous ‘slide at your own risk, take some god damn personal responsibility will you' slide."

It was a bit of a rollercoaster Round 12 for Club 20 punters who could have woken up today a bit dirty on not taking advantage of a great start to the weekend.
But a win is a win and most importantly I think we got the balance right between hail-mary plays and sensible, smaller multi’s that can help build the bank and avoid complete wipeout weekends.
Duncan 30+ into Hawkins 4+ worked a treat Friday night. I know a few who got on real late and got Duncan at $2.90 which made it over 8’s for that two legger so well played.
A sloppy dewy first quarter was all that stood between Hawkins and 5-6 goals as well. The spot was there, the value was there, just didn’t fall.
Saturday was a complete disaster really – Carlton showing up to play was not a surprise, what was a surprise was the Lions not being able to meet the challenge and still put 100+ on what is a very young, very inexperienced key defence.
Charlie Cameron left 4-5+ out there, few times the ball didn’t bounce his way, could have had 3 quite easily even with the Lions playing so poorly.
Lewis Jetta was the biggest frustration for mine at the weekend. In an year where everyone who takes the kickins steps over the mark, Jetta failed to stat up not once, not twice but 5 times!
Add the two times he lackadaisically trotted over the line with ball in hand when he could have handballed back in and kept the ball in play, there was a 30+ game there for Jetta.
Cox had his chances on the Queen’s Birthday clash as well. I must admit I did not factor into my thinking the ability of Gawn to get back into the hole that Cox would be running at, Gawn spoiled Cox 3-4 times right in that 30m out from goal range where had it been another ruckman Cox would have clunked it.
Despite this he had four shots and from those four kicked 1.1 so it was a bad day accuracy wise as well.
Still, any win is a good win and with Friday night, plus Jetta’s 20+ plus my 3 Legger multi getting up, I came out of the weekend with an extra lobster in my pocket that I didn’t have.
If we can maintain those smaller wins and jag a few big ones we will really start to see some proper mullah flowing in and yes, a slide into the pool will be built!
Not a slide for slide's sake either, a decent, potentially dangerous ‘slide at your own risk, take some god damn personal responsibility will you’ slide.
It will be mine, oh yes!
But enough of me, we want to hear your stories. It's Monday morning and it's raw. For good or bad, let's hear it!
