Morning Mail: Sunday 12th August

Eight games, nine suggested bets and plenty of value about today on the back of a huge day for the model yesterday. So get the lawns mowed early and settle in for a ripping Sunday afternoon of value with Stats Insider.

AFL VALUE

Buddy verses the Demons 'defence', Dale Morris' 250th and a Blues side bereft of key defence travelling to face a full-strength Dockers forward line. Yep, it's going to be a good day!

NORTH MELBOURNE v WESTERN BULLDOGS

Higgins back and North certainly have the height advantage up forward but this game is Dale Morris' 250th - the Dogs will be giving this game everything they have, it may as well be their grand final game for season 2018.

MELBOURNE v SYDNEY

May not be a confident bet but a 9% edge at the Line for the Swans is still value in my book, especially for a team that travels very well and playing a team like the Dees who can't contain star key forwards (or even Alex Sexton for that matter).

FREMANTLE v CARLTON

Model loves the value about the Blues H2H and at the Line (huge edges). Overs still looks the rock solid play here for mine though. Both these sides will throw caution to the wind in an attempt to move the footy fast.

NRL VALUE

Should be plenty of cash to splash around after a ripping super Saturday from the model, but just what does it think of the two very different games facing punters today?

RAIDERS v TIGERS

Wests Line has jumped to +5.5 for a 10% edge. With Cleary ending speculation and committing to the club, expect their scrambling defence to return. The Under at 47.5 points (24% edge) is a lock if the Tigers defend as well as they have at points this season.

STORM v SHARKS

This was a smiley-free zone to start the week, but the Model has found some value in the Under at 38 points.

EPL VALUE

Big edge first up in the final day of the first round!

LIVERPOOL v WEST HAM UNITED

The Hammers will field a vastly different line-up to the ones that have conceded four goals in three consecutive meetings with Liverpool, including club record signing Issa Diop in defence. Value at the Unders here (11% edge!).

SOUTHAMPTON v BURNLEY

Burnley have to contend with all the distractions and challenges of a European adventure – their first in more than half a century – after a season of punching well above their weight. They add Ben Gibson to a defence which conceded just 39 goals last season

ARSENAL v MANCHESTER CITY

Saving the best for last? Arsenal begins negotiating their post-Wenger era by being thrown over the coals immediately with the toughest visitor imaginable.

Former ABC Journo and Champion Data stats nerd who loves his fantasy sport, punting, footy, cricket, golf - you get the point. More than prepared to take driver off the deck from 250 out (especially if it's for a beverage or two!) but will also happily take my medicine when the occasion calls for it. Pumped to be part of the Stats Insider team - if it's value and it's footy, I'm all over it in 2019 folks!
