Lady Luck bats an eyelid our way on Pace-up Wednesday

More than a few heads were down at the Club 20 front bar yesterday afternoon after yet another bad beat in the basketball left punters pining for lady luck to throw a little smile our way.

Doesn’t even have to be a smile, just a look, a glance. Hell we’d even settle for a snarl after yesterday – Just give us something!

Fortunately, the sandiness subsided shortly after happy hour ended and the lads and ladies were able to pick their collective lips up and glance at this four-game Wednesday slate.

So. Much. Value!

Confidence and enthusiasm levels rose rapidly and by closing time, the consensus was very much that we will all be very rich by about 4pm this arv! (hiccup!)

Warriors @ Grizzlies - Ja Morant Combo (Points + Assists) +24.5 Over @ 1.95

This kid is a gun. Six times this season he has scored over 23 points and only really struggled against good defensive teams that play slow. This is NOT that game.

Morant should see very close to if not his full 30mins today, is averaging 20 points in his last three games and 7 assists per game in his last five games – he has played the Nuggets, the Spurs and Orlando in three of his last five games where he has not fared as well, so we’re getting a decent discount on the Combo line and we’re taking it happily.

Suns @ Kings – Buddy Hield Combo (Points + Rebounds) + 25.5 Over @ 1.88

Like that perfect wave you know is coming, we’ve been sitting out the back for some time waiting for Buddy to catch fire and with Fox out for the Kings Hield finally started to heat up last start against the Celtics, dropping 7 three-pointers on his way to a season-high 35 points. So when the bookies are offering us 25.5 line on a guy who can give 40 real points a nudge any given night if on, we are very interested.

Averaged 38 minutes in his last 3 games and again, no Fox means he is shooting more as well as grabbing more boards (averaged over 6 rebounds last five games). With an implied total of 111pts for the Kings, we really like Hield here in a game where he will play tons of minutes and get tones of opportunity to continue the heater he started last game.

Blazers @ Pelicans – CJ McCollum Combo (Points + Rebounds + Assists) +30.5 @ 1.90

The matchup is sublime for McCollum here. Both these teams are horrific defensively and despite their injuries, this will be a track meet. McCollum is playing 40mins against the fastest-pace in the league and he is on a team that felt the need to bring in the Carmello cavalry because they were so short.

In his last 5 games his combo scores have read 35, 31, 29, 45, 33, with that last score being against Rockets where he played a few less minutes in a blowout. CJ is a very inconsistent player but this matchup is as good as it gets and he has been getting several minutes in the first half without Lillard on the floor which really accelerates his combo scoring.

Blazers @ Pelicans – Same Game Multi

---updated 9am---

As this is being written there is a question mark over Lillard and the Pels still have 718 guys listed as questionable so unless those questions get answers well ahead of start time, it is difficult to see bookmakers offering a comprehensive range of SGM options in the Points/Rebounds/Assists markets.

Having said that, if we know more than 3 minutes out what there two teams will look like and if the markets are there, then the Club 20 crew will be loading up on same-game points multis because these two teams defend about as effectively as Cricket Australia deters cheating.

Assuming Ingram and Lillard both play, they are in play as are Holiday, McCollum, Hood, Whiteside, Alexander-Walker, Reddick, Williams, Hayes – literally everyone who can safely be assessed as playing 28+ minutes is in a prime scoring spot and if Lillard and/or Ingram don't play then there are just more minutes and more opportunity to go around so check back in with us at Club 20 on twitter to see who we like / let us know who you are jumping in on.

Hedge

Cruelly denied sporting glory due to recurring shin splint complaints and an aversion to warm-up laps, Hedge now spends his days golfing, fishing the leaves out of the Club 20 pools and identifying value plays in PGA, AFL, AFLW and T20. All you really need to know about him is he's more than comfortable taking 3I off the tee on a Par 5, and more than capable of pulling driver off the deck second shot.
