An AFL preliminary final at the G, an NRL semi-final then back to watching Sungjae tear apart CC Jackson – this really is the best time of the year to be a sports-loving punter!

It’s hard not to get caught up in Prelim-fever. You can just feel it around the pool bar this morning, there is excitement in the air as club members pour over footy stats, past games and/or flip coins in pursuit of their bets tonight. 

We may have fallen victim to finals fever with the amount of bets we like tonight, starting with a two-leg multi in the AFL that was unanimously loaded up on by Club 20 punters. 

AFL : Tigers v Cats – Cam Guthrie / Tom Stewart Overs @ $3.90

Guthrie got a lazy 33 touches last week so the Overs on a +20.5 disposals line looks amazing. Against a Tigers team that really allows those handballing, disposal-chain midfielders to rack up disposals. Cats must go through Richmond with hands and speed tonight which means Guthrie will be involved, a lot. He also could be shouldering a lot more midfield load than normal with the prospect of Patrick Dangerfield playing deep forward for much of the game. 

Tom Stewart’s O/U of +22.5 looks only almost as appealing, with no Mitch Duncan and the Tigers unlikely to tag Stewart, the rebounding/intercepting/ball winning/kicker-outerer defender should have no issues clearing 23 touches. 

AFL: Tigers v Cats – Guthrie 25+ / Stewart Overs @ $6.90

May be getting a little greedy here but taking the extra juice for a Guthrie 25+ game appealed to plenty so we’ve thrown it in. 

AFL: Tigers v Cats – Guthrie Overs / Dangerfield 2 Goals @ $6.80

This is a bet I quite like because the more time Danger spends forward, the more chance Guthrie has to rack up disposals, so there is good correlation here. Danger’s inaccuracy seems the only issue here, expect he gets at least two quality looks at them.

AFL Tigers v Cats – Guthrie/Stewart Overs, Short 20+, Danger 2 Goals @ $27.50

I’m expecting Jayden Short to have a very sneaky-good game here and clear that 20+ disposals easily. We already like the Guthrie/Stewart spots, and Danger for a couple of goals to finish off a 4-legger with a good bit of juice

AFL: Patrick Dangerfield 3+ / 4+ / 5+ / 6+ Goals @ $9, $33.50, $151 and $401

This is mainly a good tactical bet but there is definitely some ‘getting swept up in prelim-fever’ in play here. We love the money about Danger for a 3-4 goal game tonight, but there is no way we are stopping there given the odds being thrown up for a big bag. Geelong NEED Danger to kick at least 3 tonight to have any chance, and if Danger can start with a few in the first quarter then six is in play.

NRL: Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles – Graham Try / Souths 1-12 @$6.25

Little two-legger from the NRL table here at Club 20 who are a little bit sandy that they’ve been moved to the back bar for tonight’s semi-final. Campbell Graham has scored 13 tries in 25 games this season, including both times the Rabbitohs played the Eagles. Both games between these two sides have been decided by 1 point so in a close game we’re jumping on the Bunnies bus tonight.
