Friday Footy Feast @ Club 20
Mar 20, 2020, 12:51AM
Sure the world as we know it is ending but with the AFL deciding to surge ahead with Round 1 last night, the mood at Club 20 today is buoyant as we recover from the season-opener and look forward to a feast of Friday sport (relatively speaking).
Tip my cap to players and officials from all codes still playing, who, for whatever their actual reasons may have been, waded through a whole heap of vitriol to help provide even a semblance of normalcy for a country that is collectively shittin kittens right now.
We were going to run through the entire weekend of footy across AFL, NRL and AFLW but instead we’re going to take it one day at a time because lets face it, no one wants to do work for nothing and there would be a lot of sand here at the front bar if we ran the form over the whole weekend only to see it all canned Saturday morning.
Good news is you get another two yarns from us this weekend!
AFL
Bulldogs v Magpies
First rule of Corona Virus AFL betting is there is ZERO value in disposals markets. In games that are just 16mins + time on per quarter, total game time has the potential to be slashed by a quarter, potentially more in a low-scoring game.
This makes 20 disposals the new 25, it makes 30 disposals then new 35, only markets have largely not bothered to price this in, hoping we might just not bother to apply basic subtraction to our betting process.
While we wait for some juice to be injected into disposal markets, our general thoughts are that this is going to be really close. Both midfields work really hard, both hard-tackling, well-structured sides, both solid down back. The line has been set at 2.5 which is a good indication of a 1-kick game.
The tri-bets look value tonight so we’re into a few of those with a couple of goal kicker bets for shits and giggles. With Bruce and Naughton likely to get a lot of focus from the Collingwood defence, we don’t mind being on a guy like Bailey Dale for a few goals tonight.
- Either Team Under 9pts @ 3.50
- Either Team Under 19pts @ 1.90
- Bailey Dale 2 Goals @ 3.00
- Bailey Dale 3 Goals @ 7.50
NRL
Dragons v Panthers
Might have found a few here folks. Firstly, we love Penny. They were very good against the Roosters last week. Like them H2H and happy to take them to cover the spread. Kikau back to the starting side has us interested in a little meat pie for the big backrower, whilst the ‘most meters’ market looks to have missed the fact that young Stephen Crichton came on for starting fullback Aetkins with about 15 to go. Also seem to be disrespecting the Duff Man @ 7’s but we will stick with our Mansour play in this market with a clear false fave.
- Penrith @ 1.65
- Penrith -4.5 @ 1.95
- Villame Vikau Try / Penrith Win @ 3.50
- Josh Mansour Most Meters @ 5.00
Broncos v Rabbitohs
Souths are the real deal this season and there won’t be 50,000 raving-mad Queenslanders to save the Donkeys up at Suncorp tonight. Love the Rabbits, particularly with Pengai-Jnr out for Brisbane. Sharks came back after Souths had clocked off last week, that won’t happen here.
- Souths Win @ 1.85
- Total Points Over 40.5 @ 1.90
- Cody Walker Try / Souths Win @ 4.25
- Souths -5.5/Over 48.5 @ 7.00
We’ll be back tomorrow morning with Saturday’s bets and there are plenty let me tell you.
With so much AFL, NRL and AFLW on this weekend, punters and sports fans should enjoy this while it lasts, because it only takes a few positive tests for a team to go down and the teams are the pillars here, once even one starts to crumble the whole thing will come down and have to be postponed for weeks.
