Data Road Trip: The Week Of LeBron James

Data Road Trip looks back on the week, investigating the key data points and numbers that formed what we saw in the week that was in sports. This week we take a look at an incredible week of LeBron James play in the NBA. It was a phenomenal and truly spectacular record breaking week of feats. Let's get into it!

21 Triple Doubles

In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semi Finals, LeBron James picked up his 21st postseason triple-double, 2nd most in NBA playoff history behind Magic Johnson (30).

30+ Points, 10+ Assists

In the same game, LeBron James' 16th career playoff game with 30+ points and 10+ assists. That's the most in NBA History, overtaking Michael Jordan (15).

40+ Points, 10+ Assists

Yet again in the same game, LeBron James would register his 4th playoff game with 40+ points and 10+ assists, breaking a tie with Michael Jordan, Jerry West and Oscar Robertson who all have 3.

43, 8, 14 and 1

LeBron James put on a clinic in Game 2, with 43 points, 8 rebounds, 14 assists and 1 steal. He shot 19-of-28 from the field (a staggering 68 percent), and completely dominated the Number 1 seeded Toronto Raptors. It was one of his greatest ever performances.

77 Points

That's how many points LeBron James assisted or scored himself in Game 2, which is the most combined points he has ever contributed in a single Playoff game.

7 Go-Ahead Shots, 5 Buzzer Beaters

In Game 3, LeBron James hit his 7th career go-ahead shot in the final 5 seconds of the 4th quarter or Overtime. He's shooting 47 percent on go-ahead shots in his Playoff career. He also has 5 buzzer-beaters amongst those shots, all other active NBA players have 5 postseason buzzer beaters combined. None have more than 1.

LeBron vs the Eastern Conference

LeBron James' dominance of the Eastern Conference is nothing new, but that doesn't make it any less insane. Look at these postseason numbers:

40+ Point Games in the Playoffs:
LeBron James: 4
Rest of the East: 0

35+ Point Games in the Playoffs:
LeBron James: 5
Rest of the East: 3

Triple-doubles in the Playoffs:
LeBron James: 2
Rest of the East: 2

Pure and utter dominance.
