CrownBet has officially returned to the Australian online wagering market, relaunching under the ownership of Betfair Pty Limited and backed by Crown Resorts.
The bookmaker reopens at a busy time on the sporting calendar, with autumn racing carnivals underway in Victoria and New South Wales, the NRL season kicking off and the AFL about to begin.
Betfair Pty Limited confirmed last year it would introduce a fixed-odds product under the CrownBet brand, expanding beyond its long-standing betting exchange model to meet changing customer preferences.
Fixed-Odds Product Goes Live
CrownBet will operate as a fixed-odds bookmaker, complementing Betfair’s exchange platform.
Customers will have access to a new betting app, racing and sports markets, and responsible gambling tools designed to support safer wagering.
Betfair Pty Limited CEO Amy Zavros said the relaunch comes at “the most electrifying moment in the sporting calendar”.
“With sophisticated tech, deep market coverage and the backing of one of the country’s most trusted entertainment brands, we’re setting a new benchmark for what a wagering experience should feel like,” Zavros said.
Backed by Crown Resorts and BetMakers
Crown Resorts CEO David Tsai said the move aligns with the group’s broader growth strategy.
“CrownBet is a familiar brand in the online wagering market. This exciting move aligns with Crown’s broader growth strategy – focusing on entertainment offerings and new revenue streams,” Tsai said.
The fixed-odds platform has been delivered by BetMakers Technology Group, which is providing the end-to-end wagering technology and trading services behind the relaunch.
Betfair Pty Limited, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Melbourne, operates Australia’s only licensed peer-to-peer betting exchange. The addition of CrownBet marks its expansion into fixed-odds wagering under a revived and recognisable brand.
