Backing up a big weekend

How do you back up from a massive weekend of winning? Well, lets find out shall we!
After a horror show in the Golf we recovered to have one of our best weekend of the year so far thanks to huge wins in Round 3 of the AFLW.
We’re dialled in for Round 4 action and eagerly await teams dropping tonight to sniff some early round value, but until then there’s PGA in Florida, Euro in Oman and Footy on in the west just to name a few.
From Palm Beach to Perth to Muscat, wherever the sporting action is happening today, we’ve got you covered at Club 20.
PGA – HONDA CLASSIC
The start of the Florida swing sees us in Palm Beach at PGA National for the Honda Classic. This is one of the hardest courses on tour in normal conditions but this weekend will be anything but normal, with winds consistently getting up past 20mp/h.
The course is really penal off the tee, there is water everywhere, the Bermuda greens are slick and now we’re adding wind – when the going gets tough Club 20 golf table get going!!
In an event where -8 or -9 can and likely will win, having guys on our card that can keep it in the fairway, avoid trouble and get up and down is the way we’re going this week.
Louis Oosthuizen
People saw Oosty lose 13 strokes T2G or whatever the ungodly number was last week and have jumped ship but all we saw was this fields’ premier ball striker gain over 9 strokes on the greens! Wen you hit it like Louis does it is easy to find your swing again, but taking that kind of putting performance into Florida will do him wonders. T21 in 2017 and T24 in 2018 and he lives near this course too so should know where he can miss and when to take medicine. Playing all the Oosty tables this week.

Bud Cauley
Bud has been a favourite of ours for a while now but we especially love him in this field at this course where he finished T12 last year following a T27 in 2017. He had two missed cuts here prior to those finishes which speaks to the volatility of both course and player, but Cauley can harness that volatility at a course like this. He can spike in any stat (his T12 in 2019 was despite losing 1.6 on approach). His approach numbers have been solid coming into this, and he knows how to clean up his OTT game for this course. Doesn’t love the wind but teeing off first group helps. If we get a weekend where he chips and putts well we’re in the biscuits here.

Ian Poulter
Had two decent top 20 finished in the desert so the cobwebs have been dusted off for 2020 now and one thing would dominate the mind of Ian Poulter – Ryder Cup. Poulter needs to play his way into that team he will desperately want to be a part of it which makes us happier to take a guy we know is going to see the long game at a course like this, and has the experience to take his bogeys and fight for four rounds. In a low-scoring event like this we like taking the grinders and Poulter is certainly that. Likes Bermuda and has a 3rd here (2015) and two T43 in 2016/7. Missed cut in 18 and didn’t play last year. Like the price, like the opportunity.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat
Okay, so before you scroll down past the man from Thailand, hear me out. History says that this event is won by the very top, or the very bottom with multiple 150-1 winners in the last ten years. Rat LOVES Bermuda and that’s about all I can say about him that’s positive. He is coming off 3 missed cuts, has a MC and T68 in two attempts here and is just playing horrid golf. Was up there for 3 rounds last week in Puerto Rico but blew that in a lesser field. Oh yeah, he is also very bad in the wind. There is no statistical reason to bet the Rat this week, but the force is telling me to keep the faith – on a course where anyone can and does get into trouble, the guy that usually finds trouble can be argued to have an advantage.

EURO GOLF – OMAN OPEN
We're in Muscat at the Greg Norman-designed Al Mouj course where players will have a tricky time of it given the courses layout and proximity to the Indian Ocean. This will be a cracker to watch and a lot of value likely to open up after R1, but we’re gong to bet 3 guys each-way early then add to our card tomorrow.

AFL PRE-SEASON – EAGLES V BOMBERS
We loved St Kilda last week and there is an equal amount of love for the Eagles given the team they’ve named, but one look at the forecast gives immediate pause to any button mashing that was about to take place on the Eagles Line or Margin bets.
It’s not at Optus firstly, it’s at Minerals Resource Park which is much more susceptible to wind, and any rain will make a pre-season game real ugly real fast.
Having said that, Nic Nat and Tim Kelly have both been trotted out which tells you the Eagles aren’t mucking around. They have named a really strong backline as well.
Check back in with us on Twitter closer to bounce, we want a good look at the radar before we load up on the Eagles tonight.
AFLW – ROUND 4
We already bet the Crows (-6.5) earlier in the week which our twitter followers must have taken and run with because the line has already moved. Expect it to go out even further as teams drop. We will have a full look at the AFLW Round 4, some Golf as well as more AFL Pre-season games in tomorrow’s email.
