5 of the best to start our weekend!

From Rosehill to the Gabba, Broovale to Old Trafford, it’s going to be a belter of a day at Club 20 as we ride our suite of Saturday bets home.

Come on in and pull up a chair…

Racing: Rosehill R5: #1 Castelvecchio Win $3

The Stats Insider Racing Cheat Sheet has spied a nice little 4.8% edge for Castelvecchio in Race 5 which we’d normally really like. But when it’s the class horse in the race, our like turns pretty quickly to LOVE! Clearly has these covered on best but the big question mark is whether that best will be produced first up? Club 20 will be hoping so. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it drift a little closer to start time so if you like it be sure to monitor markets.

NRL: Sea Eagles v Sharks: Bronson Xerri Try $2.10

Their right-side attack is dominant but here's a good chance the Sharks send some traffic down the left here with Wade Graham likely to ask plenty of questions of this makeshift Sea Eagles right edge. He's a master of creating space for his outside man and Bronson Xerri has Moses Suli more than covered for speed and footwork.

AFL: Lions v Giants: Jacob Hopper / Hugh McCluggage Overs $3.50

Hopper peeled off a comfortable 30 touches last week against the Dogs playing pure on-ball so the Over 26.5 Disposals on offer again is just as appealing as it was seven days ago. With no Coniglio, Hopper’s role and game time (84% last week) skyrocket and this game at the Gabba will be just as contested (if not more) which brings Hopper into the thick of it all game.

The front bar was very torn as to who to target for the Lions here. We know De Boer will try and curtail either Zorko or Neale and we know Mitch Robinson is out, so the popular plays looked to be McCluggage Over 22.5 or on Jarrod Berry for 20+ at a similar price. We settled the debate as any group of sensible, responsible men would (late at night with children’s inflatable pool jousting equipment) and the victor happened to a McCluggage man so, yeah!

Premier League: Leicester City Draw or Win (double chance) @1.98

Manchester United are without Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw with fitness concerns over Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jesse Lingard. So basically, United's only creative midfielder, main striker and left back are all out and their first-choice right-back is doubtful as well. Pogba in particular is the only source of creativity in that Man Utd midfield has and without him, it'll be really hard for them to score any goals.

On the flip side, Leicester City are a well-oiled machine – they’re unbeaten so far this season and have had a draw against Chelsea away from home. You’d think Leicester will score at least one goal (if not more) and without Pogba, it's highly unlikely United will score even one. We got on early before markets adjusted somewhat but north of $1.70 appeals still.

The All-up $40.50

Not stuffing around here – it’s a Saturday choc-full of sport and we love the bets we’ve got so we’re chucking another unit on the all-up hoping to turn a good day into a great one at Club 20!

  • Leicester City Draw or Win (double chance)

  • Jacob Hopper Over 26.5 Disposals

  • Hugh McCluggage Over 22.5 Disposals

  • Castelvecchio Win

  • Bronson Xerri Try

Hedge

Cruelly denied sporting glory due to recurring shin splint complaints and an aversion to warm-up laps, Hedge now spends his days golfing, fishing the leaves out of the Club 20 pools and identifying value plays in PGA, AFL, AFLW and T20. All you really need to know about him is he's more than comfortable taking 3I off the tee on a Par 5, and more than capable of pulling driver off the deck second shot.
