Punters Corner: Golf, Gawn and Greatness!

Life was good at Club 20 this week after a pretty good weekend nailing our Friday night multi and cashing in on Charlie Cameron's 6 goals, but our other Lions forward stack came up short so the big payday didn’t happen.
We underestimated just how inept the Suns were (if that’s possible) and failed to anticipate that the Lions mids would be slotting them from everywhere instead of forwards leading out then converting.
Live and learn.
-----Updated with final Club 20 Friday and weekend bets below-----
Daniel Menzel 3+, 4+ Goals
Menzel has zero excuses tonight and could be the Swan who really gets the best matchup – so long as he stays close to home we can expect half a dozen shots on goal, they just need to go through for us and at 7.00 (3) and 20’s (4) we’re in on the former Cat!
Jordan Dawson 2+, 3+, 4+ Goals
Dawson kicked 3 against the Cats a few weeks back and has a lot of avenues to goal – he is a preferred give off option outside 50 and he can sneak forward and fly from the side and take a big grab close. The Dees are really susceptible to a player like Dawson and at 10’s (2), 52’s (3) and 226-1 for 4 goals, he is well over the odds in this spot.
Friday Night Multi
- Florent 25+, Dawson 20+, Gawn 20+ @ 9.75
Mitch Brown 3+, 4+ Goals
With Hamling likely to stand McKernan, Brown is the man likely to get the softest matchup for the Bombers. Yes it’s Sandi’s farewell, yes it’s Walters’ 150th, but we have to take the value when it’s offered and at 12.50 (3) and 55’s (4) we’re in!
Jack Gunston 3+, 4+, 5+, 6+ Goals
With no Mitchel Lewis for the Hawks they will need a leading tall and whilst the Roughy narrative is cute, I’d much rather take the value (and ability) of Gunston at 6.50 (3) as the saver, 21.00 (4), 77.00 (5) and a very juicy 226-1 for a big bag of 6 goals, Gunston is very much in play against a nearly defenceless Suns side.
Isaac Smith 2+, 3+, 4+ Goals
Smith has his running game back and he will tear the Suns apart at Marvel Sunday. He is capable of kicking them from distance and I can see him streaming from the centre and bagging a few on the run and/or sneaking fwd and taking advantage of some lazy, tired Suns defence. At 5.50 (2), 23.00 (3) and 111-1 for 4 goals, Smith goes in on price and opportunity.
BMW Championship
We've been loving the golf this season, particularly the value offered post Round 1 of the PGA events and sweet jebus, there is some tonight.
Sitting 5 back despite playing really solid golf is Tommy Fleetwood who has blown out to 100-1 in the outright markets. He was ranked 62nd in the 70-man field in Shots Gained: Putting in R1. He cannot score worse and in a no-cut event, he is amazing EW value if he can find something with the putter.
Ian Poulter ditto. He struggled abit off the tee but he was ranked #3 in approach in the field and #16 around the greens yet #66(!!) in putting. He is one of the best putters on tour. That will turn and at 150-1 he presents great value EW.
Then there is Lucas Glover sitting just 1 off the lead despite ranking #51 in the field in putting for R1, value EW at 40's. Don't mind Abraham Ancer who sits just 3 shots back at 67-1 despite playing solid without the brilliance we saw last week. He can put back to back 65's out there no worries.
Lastly Justin Rose is 20-1 still and his putter went cold R1 (#38 in field) which for him is rare as he is a supremely good putter. Just 3 back, like that value for the Outright.
